1. Question: How is the Vulcan different from other portable battery systems? 


Vulcan is a turnkey plug-and-play system boasting higher efficiency, industrial operating standards, upwards scalability up to 100 kWh, safe battery technology, and constant charge times regardless of storage capacity. Our system uses top-of-the-line technologies from our partners which are seamlessly integrated into our design. Our system is also designed and manufactured in the U.S.


  • Vulcan can run in the harshest of conditions. The built-in thermal management, which consists of internal heating to maintain battery temperature when operating in conditions below 32°F, industrial power conversion electronics rated to 140°F, and a NEMA-rated enclosure — ensures that Vulcan provides reliable, clean power to weather exposed broadband enclosures, mobile applications and military applications.
  • Vulcan’s customizable enclosure means that inverter-charger units can be purchased with 120VAC at 2 kW/3 kW and 240VAC at 2kW with NEMA rated 15A, 20A, and 30A receptacles to power hospital, military, mobile, residential, broadband, and other loads from a single form factor.
  • Vulcan can be maintained in the field and spare parts can be provided to make field repairs. The system is designed such that parts can be replaced and the units back in operation within two (2) hours.
  • Vulcan can be deployed indoors, in an enclosed space or outside under a covered area. Ensure there is adequate airflow for the unit and that the relative humidity does not exceed 95%.
  • Vulcan offers a long-term and cost-effective solution in an all-in-one package. Its design allows for scaling to higher battery capacities than competitive solutions, easy installation, and low-cost operations and maintenance. Decommissioning costs are reduced since thermal management ensures battery longevity of well over 10 years.


2. Question: How soon will my system be delivered?


You can currently expect delivery within 30 days of your order and full payment. Delivery times may vary depending on order backlog and availability of components. Over 70% of our product parts are North American made, mitigating the supply chain risk, and we make every effort to continue producing and delivering our products on time. We will update you if our timeline changes.


3. Question: What is the surge power of the Vulcan?


The standard Vulcan has a surge power rating of 4,000W and can easily handle any 15A inductive load. Two (2) Vulcan Inverter-Chargers can be chained together through Energy Stores to provide up to 8,000W of surge power and 4,000W of continuous power. The 3 kW Vulcan has a surge power rating of 6,000W. Two (2) 3 kW Vulcan Inverter-Chargers can be chained together through Energy Stores to provide up to 12,000W of surge power and 6,000W of continuous power.


4. Question: What’s the operating temperature of the Vulcan and Energy Stores? How low of a temperature can you run it?


The Vulcan can operate from -20°C to 50°C (-4°F to 122°F) with built-in safety to prevent operation outside of these temperature ranges for safety and longevity of the product. Once the temperature returns to operating range, the Vulcan will automatically charge the batteries for use. 


5. Question: What’s the difference between the Vulcan and the Energy Store?


The Vulcan Inverter-Charger is the main system unit and can generate 120V AC at 2000W continuous and 4000 watts peak. The output powers devices and appliances that use a 15A three-pronged plug. This unit contains an internal battery and charging components as well.

The Energy Store is used to provide added battery capacity to the system. The unit contains an internal battery and charging components and sends its energy to the Vulcan Inverter-Charger unit. Adding additional Energy Stores allows you to incrementally increase your system storage capacity up to 100 kWh.


6. Question: What is the charge time from the depletion of the battery?


Our Vulcan and Energy Stores are easy and quick to charge from depletion. It takes roughly 2 hours to charge a Vulcan and 3 hours to charge an Energy Store with 1,200W of solar panels. Due to our scalability, the 3-hour system charge time from depletion remains constant with more panels added. Maximum AC charging times are 9 hours or less for the Energy Store and 4 hours or less for the Inverter-Charger. The charging times will remain below these thresholds regardless of the number of Vulcan or Energy Store units chained together as long as you have the energy to charge them. 


7. Question: Does the Vulcan also operate as a UPS?


Yes. Vulcan contains a 30A automatic AC transfer switch that passes grid power through the system and automatically switches over to battery power when the AC input is lost. Battery power also switches within 10ms (less than one voltage cycle) of a utility line voltage sag. Units can be programmed to automatically switch to battery power with voltage sag between 80VAC to 110VAC to protect sensitive electronic and IT equipment, decrease equipment failure rates and reduce service calls.


8. Question: What is the water resistance for this product?


Our product was designed to operate under multiple temperature and humidity conditions and is IP52 and NEMA rated. This means the unit is water-resistant and can be operated undercover in moist and humid environments.


9. Question: Is the Vulcan susceptible to EMP?


The Vulcan has an option to include 17,000 AMP EMP Transient Voltage Suppression Devices, which shield all internal circuitry and AC loads. These EMP Transient Voltage Suppression devices meet the MIL-STD-188-125-2 specifications.
