Sol Donum Deploys Virginia's

First All Solar Broadband Tower

Sol Donum has partnered with Virginia Broadband to deploy the first all solar-powered broadband tower in Virginia. This exciting innovation extends broadband coverage to remote and underserved areas to drastically improve quality of life and economic opportunities for these communities.

"Thanks to Sol Donum's engineering team and their unique Vulcan battery storage and energy generation system, we are now able to establish Access Points anywhere we have customer demand. Our partnership with Sol Donum is a key differentiator for us, and we look forward to further expanding our service coverage areas with their zero carbon footprint energy systems." said Warren Manual, the CEO of Virginia Broadband.

Sol Donum's Vulcan Battery Energy Storage system is equipped with an automatic internal heating system to maintain battery life and system resiliency. The custom built metal enclosure protects the Vulcan system from the elements and has allowed the site to run without interruption for over two years.

Mike Vermillion, head of field operations for Virginia Broadband, praised the Vulcan system calling the installation process seamless and highlighted that the transition to solar power "reduced environmental impact and opened new avenues of deployment in areas unreachable before."

In addition to the Vulcan system, Sol Donum's IoT Watchdog was deployed to the Virginia Broadband sites to provide secure remote monitoring. The IoT Watchdog service provides proactive and predictive monitoring in a user-friendly interface. Up to three years of system data is stored within the internal database to easily chart information and patterns.
